Work hard, play hard is the only virtue to live by and what makes me really enjoy indulging in vacation! I’m spending the week with my family relaxing & most importantly – eating – at the all-inclusive Hyatt Zilara Rose Hall resort in Montego Bay. This is my first time in Jamaica & I plan to fully immerse in the food scene to make the most of my trip. Follow my foodie journey as I chronicle my dining adventures through a daily food diary…
Location: Hyatt Zilara Rose Hall – Montego Bay, Jamaica
Date: Monday, August 1st
8:30 AM: Pre-Breakfast Coffee & Muffin
Rise & shine and ease into the day! As I waited for the rest of my family to wake up and get ready for breakfast, I decided to enjoy a cup of Jamaican coffee & banana-nut muffin from PotionZ Bar & Lounge back on the balcony of my room – a breakfast pre-game, if you will.
10:00 AM: Breakfast Buffet
Buffets are what all-inclusive resorts are most known for & ChoiceZ Buffet did not disappoint. Upon entering the restaurant, there was a Build Your Own Bloody Mary & Mimosa bar – which is the only way to start breakfast. Along the buffet, guests could find a variety of breakfast staples – omelettes, cereal, bacon – along with Jamaican fare like corn beef hash and porridge. As per usual, I went a bit overboard. I started with a made-to-order omelette and a medley of breakfast meats. Then I made my way back for round two for French toast – topped with brown sugar, syrup, & walnuts – to satisfy my sweet tooth.
2:00 PM: Poolside Lunch
After spending a couple of hours in the Caribbean Sea, lunch was well overdue. We headed over to the West End snack bar to re-charge & re-fuel. Since I had a heavy breakfast, I decided to keep lunch a bit lighter. I decided to go with a fresh grilled shrimp skewer and chicken patty – another Jamaican staple. I also subsidized this meal with many, MANY drinks for the poolside bar.
7:00 PM: Dinner Buffet
After a long hard day of relaxing by the beach & pool, it was yet again time for another meal. For dinner we decided to head back to ChoiceZ for dinner – they were featuring Jamaican cuisine as the main food offering. I tried a few traditional dishes like Curry Goat, Ox Tail, and Rice & Peas – all were delicious! Dessert is always my main focus for any meal, so I indulged in some ice cream and custard tarts.
Check back tomorrow for another update!
