Summer 2016 Festival Round Up

#SummertimeChi is just around the corner and that can only mean a few things: open patios for dining and plenty of food festivals to indulge in! Chicago is a city that FULLY embraces summer and all it has to offer – I’m sure that the brutal winters have something to do with that. Now that the sun is shining, you’ll be sure to see Chicagoans out hitting the streets. Although it was hard to dwindle down the list – I rounded up five of the festivals that I’m most looking forward to this summer!

food truck festival (1)

1) Chicago Food Truck Festival
When: June 25th – 26th, 11 AM – 8 PM
Where: South Loop Green Space
$$: General admission is free!

Spend your weekend in the South Loop indulging in the best of Chicago’s food trucks at the Chicago Food Truck Festival.    Admission to the festival is free, but patrons can purchase VIP admission ticket for a mere $5 to gain early entry into the event. From cupcakes to pizza to hotdogs to pork chops, the options really are unlimited at the Chicago Food Truck Festival.

2)  Brew to Be Wild beer
When: June 17th-18th, 6 PM – 11 PM
Where: Lincoln Park Zoo
$$: $49

Take in the sights of the Lincoln Park Zoo while enjoying more than 75 specialty craft beers at Brew to Be Wild. Admission to the tasting event includes 20 (yes, 2-0) 3 oz. tastings & a souvenir tasting glass – so I’d say that’s $49 well spent! Aside from the beer tastings, there will also be lawn games to partake in, a live DJ to dance to, and food available for purchase. Beer aficionados, this one’s for you.

3) Taste Of Chicago
When: July 6th – 10th, 11 AM – 9 PM
Where: Grant Park
$$: Free admission

Taste of Chicago is a can’t-miss, nationally recognized food festival – to put it lightly. Foodies across the Midwest will be making their way to Chicago to for this festival and luckily for everyone, admission is free! Restaurants like Stan’s Donuts & Pastoral Artisan Cheese will have pop-ups, The Roots will be performing, and celebrity chefs will be holding demos – all in all, there is something for everyone at Taste of Chicago.

4) Roscoe Village Burger Fest 62e2c9_9f3621f0e80f4b6398f06d5ff64f17c3.jpeg_srz_255_255_85_22_0.50_1.20_0.00_jpeg_srz
When: July 9th -10th, 11 AM – 10 PM
Where: Clybourn Ave. (Between Diversey to Wellington)
$$: Free admission

As a burger fiend – my mouth is already watering at the thought of Roscoe Village Burger Fest! Grills will be fired up all along Clybourn Ave. for the 10th annual Burger Fest. Top-notch burger restaurants across Chicago will be in attendance & competing to take home accolades such as “Critics Choice Award” or “People’s Choice Award“. Aside from the food, of course there will be live music & even a kids zone with lots of fun games. If I’m MIA from July 9th- 10th, don’t send out a missing person’s report – just know that I’m fully indulging at Roscoe Village Burger Fest.

5) Rachael Ray’s Feedback Chicago

For the first time ever in Chicago, this SXSW-inpsired festival will be making it’s way to Lincoln Park this summer. This fest will be bringing a jam-packed line up of performers, food, & drinks. Your admission to the event also includes 2 tastings straight from the menu of none other than Rachael Ray herself [upgraded admission is also available for a more tailored experience]. All in all, Rachael Ray’s Feedback will definitely be a can’t-miss experience this summer!
